A group of us went out to see Salvation Mountain, out in Imperial County- just east of the Salton Sea. Salvation Mountain is this amazing place/artwork created by Leonard Night. (Check out the website if you've never heard of it) It is Leonard's tribute to God and his gift to the world with its simple yet powerful message: "God Is Love." It is constructed using hay bales, adobe, tree branches, trash etc. Leonard continues to add more supports and more hay bales all covered with adobe all the while painting and repainting with bright colors that his visitors bring. It was a very hot weekend, but totally worth it. We got to talk to Leonard (the artist), and had lunch with him that Cris BBQed. Here are some pictures from our journey out there.
